Seek to prevent pollution.
Identify and manage risks and hazards

Examples of our policy:
Wood residues produced as part of the manufacturing process are segregated to allow their recycling into animal bedding and other specialist products leaving only the true waste wood which is used on site to fuel our burner/boilers for heating, these specialist pieces of equipment produce low emissions and are regulated and authorized by Local Authority. This system greatly reduces the amount of road transport traditionally needed to remove waste materials and almost completely eliminates landfill.
We use and maintain Power Factor equipment to minimize our peak energy demands and reduce wasteful heat losses through cabling.
We make extensive use of automated damper systems in our extraction system to maximise dust collection while reducing the motor power needed to maintain an efficient system.
Our extraction system filters and returns the air to the factory to minimize heating losses and maintain air quality.
We use air from the factory, which gains “free” heat from human, and electric motor activity and solar energy from skylights to dry product in our spray shop – this removes the need to provide additional heating energy.
Our main factory lighting is on automated light level controls to switch off as soon as ambient levels are sufficient.
We have automated heating and ventilation controls to minimize fuel consumption and maintain a suitable working environment.
We have a petrol interceptor on site to trap possible contaminants.
Surface water is held on site to be released to the local watercourse at safe pre determined levels.
Our Preservative Treatment plant uses water-based fluids to reduce harmful emissions.
Packaging card, paper and plastics are segregated on site and stored for economic collection and recycling by contracted off site specialists.
Empty paint cans wherever possible are returned to the supplier for recycling when the supplier next delivers saving on unnecessary transportation.
All of our standard preferred finishing products are water based or solid to greatly reduce solvent emissions.
We make extensive use of machine specific and timer controls to turn off unnecessary motors to save energy.
Wherever possible aerosol use is prohibited and bulk fill product is used instead to save packaging.
Wherever possible we use bulk container supply to reduce transport impact by our suppliers.
We ask that pallets (our largest single source of unavoidable packaging) be returned to us for reuse when we next deliver.
